Afternoon!

Below is a picture of my Reliant Outlet and Transfer Switch Box. My inside panel does not have anything telling me about what I can run if I plugged in a generator to this outlet. I understand I have to turn off the main breaker if the power was off but do I turn on the 30A and 20A breaker on this transfer box then turn on the individual breakers in the main panel again? Thank you in advance.

You can find it by searching our forum here, electrical advice. And of course tiling advice, and uk tiling forum.

That is what some people call a critical panel so when you plug in youR generator THE FIRST THING THAT HAS TO HAPPEN IS TURN OFF YOUR 200 MAIN BREAKER so you don’t back feed the power company wiring on their lines. They make transfer switches for these type of applications It’s hate to say but you would probably have to turn the 2 breakers on in the critical panel. What wattage is your generator?

So I know I turn off the 200A breaker. I should turn off all the individual breakers as well? Then go to that panel outside and turn on the 30A / 20A then I turn on the individual breakers inside my house? I was just going to get a 3800W generator to just run my lights and refrigerator and some outlets which I think that generator would be plenty? Would that be the right sequence on doing it?

I can only assume that all you are going to get out of that generator is 30 amps and yes that’s plenty of power for them loads. Is that panel connected to the main panel in any way if no you just plug in you generator in and turn the breakers on. If so I would have to have a picture to advise you any further
