I'm quoting to install an outside light at some distance from the nearest building.

About 16m of the run will be underground, mostly under lawn, with about 2m of that under paving slabs, which will have to be lifted and re-laid. I am proposing a 500mm deep trench with ducting and warning tape above. The ground is likely to be full of builders rubble. I don't think there's access for a mini digger, so probably have to be dug by hand.

I don't really fancy digging the trench myself, so I've contacted a couple of groundworkers, but until I get their quotes, can anyone give me an idea of the likely cost to dig and re-fill the trench?

2 groundworkers should dig it out in less than a day, then a couple hours to fill in and re lay slabs. should be not mnore than £200. IMO.

Depends on the groundworkers tbh. Some charge £200 per day each. Wait and see is my advice.

200 quid to dig a trench anyground work jobs lol

I have to do me bruvs a 34 metre run and about 20 of this is in the ground and guess who the groundworker will be

yeah i will be grafting as he sits in his crane all day waiting until they want him to do a lift and gets paid more for doing that falling sleep waiting for the radio reading the paper or eating his butties lol than i have have ever earned
