Hi all,

Been to fit a new bathroom lamp. LED type.

Light is very dim.

Voltage between Live and Neutral is 103 Volts.

But between Live and Earth it's 203 Volts.

Any ideas what would cause this.

I'm going back to get into the loft tomorrow and see what's happening.

Previous electrician did a runner and would not come back and fix the bathroom light.

So why the reduced voltage between Live and Neutral??

Thank you.

Simon.

Basic testing of the lighting circuit cables would be advisable. Maybe the sparky has wired it so that your lamp is in series with another? Do some R1+R2 testing. And confirm L-N and L-E back at the CU. Were you testing with an MFT?

Thanks.

Didn't have time today, but will go back and do thourough tests and trace out this circuit.

I just used a Metrell voltage tester.

Will take the full kit tomorrow.

if it's the last light on the circuit and all the others work OK, then the fault will not be far away.
