walked off job today and never been hapier, guy been moaning at labour charges and only paying me a tenner an hour!
when i veiwed job it was ten flats that had had fire damage polish builder had come in and layed floors and fitted kitchens when electrics needed sorting out.
anyways after seeing state of the place and no transport at the time the guy begged me to help him so i reluctuntly excepted 10 pound an hour as long as he supplied meterials and i could leave to go on house calls when needed and he paid me every 1 day in areas.
i started doing 8 hours a day then realised he wouldn't like paying so kept droping hours until i was doing 5 hours a day then he kept leaving it a day or two before paying me.
after the third day today i ring him to be questioned about what have i been doing and he wanted it finnished by now!
as he wants all flats to have new cu's and it all signed off for a tenner an hour and his buisiness below is going bust i am glad to stop as i have a feeling an insurance job on the way.

Guy sounds a ****. Ten pound a hour is mental as well you must be worth more then that. May as well work at tesco for that a lot less hassle.

Ive walked away from smaller jobs before (nothing your size)

It's a big call, and you'll reap the rewards as regards to happiness straight away - and as said above, i hope you find more work in the near future. It's decisions like this that defines you as an electrician and a person to be honest, it'll make you stronger and more confident to walk away again should an occassion ever arise.

The guys sounds a tool. Onwards and upwards

What area are you in

newport... just added up all the work i have done and calculated what i would normaly charge for labour then matched this with what i have been paid so far and there is not much diference.
looks like i may have been twidling my thumbs a bit, nice to know i weren't working too hard for a tenner an hour.
i will be glad for a few days off with the odd light fitting change etc and less hours more money.

I started to pack my tools up once as the plasterer was plastering the wall I was there to first fix, he watched and said "what you doin" said "goin bye"

and it gradually sunk in that hed have to redo what he was currently doing and maybe the order was the wrong way round, che phoned the gaffer that was also a spread by trade that had told him to just get on with it and he decided in his wisdom to wait an hour.....

so unpacked tools....

Hard to do mate, especially with it being deathly quiet recently, but I reckon you did the right thing.
