Wall chaser and dust extraction

Hi guys I’m in the market for a wall chaser and vac, ideally wanted the Bosch gnf65 but it’s £600+

Now looking at a sparky one it cuts up to 40mm wide, anyone got one and is it any good?

Also looking at the festool dust extractors anyone has any experience with them?

I’m open to any recommendations, I like the festool dust extractors because they look to pack away neatly, I borrowed a dewalt one and it’s a right tangle when you have it in the van!

i use a £29.99 chaser from aldi, with my henry hose bodge taped to the extract. not perfect. it misses 5%of the dust, but i can ( cough,cough) live with that.

I bought a Titan chaser and matching dust extractor from Screwfix and it is very good, would go as far as recommending it! The only downside is the limitation if 40mm cut.

My vacuum also turns the chaser on if plugged into the vacuum cleaner.

mine only cuts 1", i have to run it twice to get 2" , but that beats your 40mm by about 3/8". told you i was bi-lingual.

As mentioned above .I have the Titan wall chaser from screwfix, my previous one was stolen from the van.
Can't fault the titan one. makes nice cuts for housbashing. Its just as good if not better than chasers many times more expensive, also has a no quibble warranty from screwfix with it.If you want really wide cuts then overlap and make 4 lines instead of 2. attached it to the titan wet/dry vacuum and have very little dust. the titan vacuum is a powerful machine in its own right mind.

You can achieve a fair bit,with a 3HP fan,some 18" ducting,and a Stihl saw...

I've used a Metabo wall chaser/hoover, and hired a few other manufacturers products and one the hire shop 'made up' with a Henry Hoover. The only one I was impressed with was the Metabo; the others simply didn't 'suck up' enough of the dust & debris. Plus some, the actual chaser was a bit unwieldy.

The Metabo was a good chaser & almost zero dust. I don't do enough chasing to warrant the expense, so its down to me £30 4'' angle grinder, and half hours down time, waiting for the dust to settle and good dust mask

I have a 110V Metabo tracker/chaser and hoover with power take-off combo. As above, very good - very little dust.

I use a 4.5” Bosch grinder with the Bosch dust extraction guard connected to a fein dustex extractor (class L) very little dust from it.
Not a fan of the twin blade ones - make a right mess.

Erbaurer twinblade grinder and Nilfisk Aero 26-21 Vac is what I use what my helper uses. Very little dust (until the Kango/Wall Chipper comes out) Can get them for approx £250 all in.

If I'm doing a new build or the likes, I bring in a wall tracking company, they seem to all use Hilti.

I am looking at getting one of these to compliment my Festool planer, just haven't bitten the bullet yet as I have 2 Henrys 1 George and a Miele and mentioned above some gaffer tape and the Henry works fine but not as nice as a Festool unit with its auto on..........

Got the Festool CTL Midi. Use it with router, rail saw, chop saw, does a great job. Only down side is cost - initial and bags. But it does pack the bags though.

I use a Titan wall chaser with a Henry vac. Works a treat in unoccupied houses. However I find the extraction vent gets blocked very easily by a piece of loose plaster or paint and the room soon fills up with dust!

I borrow a Makita wall chaser and vac for occupied places and the extraction is so much better

I have the sparky wall chaser. FYI it’s very heavy and unwieldy. So far I’ve only tried to use it on an uneven stone wall but gave up due to weight. Easier to use smaller grinder. Despite mask and goggles still washing grit out of my eyes

Did some chasing the other week. Couldn’t face using wall chaser or grinder. Just pin drilled. Joined the dots with masonry attachment on mult-tool and knocked out with SDS chisel. Was a fairly soft block wall though

for small chases in plaster i use multitool with oldish blade. hardly any dust. when blade has no more teeth left, a 1mm cutting disc cuts new teeth. rough, but will do for more plaster cuts.

Borrowed from a mate a hilti chaser and dust extractor for one job we did in a basement.
Excellent bit of kit, best Ive used but if £600 is too much then the Hilti is not for you!!!!

We use 2 different sized festool vacs. They have remote starting from either mains or by Bluetooth switch if using battery tools. They get used with a metabo chaser that goes to 40mm or the festool dsc 125 which is a sort of angle grinder on its side that goes to around 27mm. I found somewhere that did reusable bags for a good price. We get about 5 refills before the bag zip fails on us. Cheaper than the festool reusable bags.

I was going to say I wouldn't have known what model it was at the time (probably about 5 years ago) but just looked at Hilti website and they only show the one model now (probably upgraded since)
It was a Hilti 'linked' dust extractor (ie started up when tool was started).

I use an MFE30 with dewalt 902 m class extractor. Thinking about upgrading to the mfe40 due to its ability to not need chiselling out after chasing. But for both pieces of equipment you're looking at 850-900 quid.

Should do. My chaser (erbauer) does a 30mm wide chase which snugly fits a 25mm oval conduit clip.

What do you think of the erbaur? Not think it gets to heavy with having to push towards the ceiling with it?

Nope, I drop it down the wall. It seems fine for a cheap tool, does the job.

Even better a 2lb lump hammer, and a 4 inch bolster, chasing machine, lightweight! younger generation never had it so good, yes it's old, before you all start on me. Used to get the bus home at night covered in blood from me busted knuckles, all the Girlies looking at me thing there is a Mans Man, still times change and I suppose all you Thomas Naggy lookalikes, can't work without a Van and a Costa close by whinging about the traffic etc. never had it so good, wimps springs to mind, mind you wish I had a chasing machine, oh I did my Apprentice. In saying that, however difficult the bashing and chasing was, I always tried to balance the hard graft with the technicalities of installation work, just like I was taught by my Master, during my Apprenticeship, different today of course, sadly.

Amusing but very true Pete, I remember before I went into the office doing house bashing and doing all my own holes for fans and cooker hood using a lump hammer and comb chisel. However, the internal blocks were therolite blocks. Did you undertake a risk assessment of which knuckles you could hit?
