grey area. some manufacturers will ok it, some won't. i would check with same before cutting one off
 
I have been told in the past by a local retailer that they have never had an issue with warranty claims when plugs have been cut off and correctly re - installed with either a new plug or into an outlet.

Mind you, lets face it, unless it states in the installation or user manual that they should not be removed, they would have a hell of a job trying to prove that removing a plug caused the appliance to fail!
 
perhaps they should come with 4mm plugs so you can thread em through holes then plug in via a break-out box!!!!
