What do we think the red button does?

The device on the right is an RCBO. The orange button at the top is the usual test button. What do we think the small square red button does?

There was a post on here a couple of months ago where someone had an 'extra' button on a RCD or RCBO.
Can't remember for sure, but IIRC, which I probably don't, it disabled the RCD.

Yes that wasn't so long ago they couldn't get it to trip because it was disabled.

I removed the MCB bit from the RCD bit. Huh.

When I move the lever on the side, the button pops out

When the button is popped out, the MCB bit won't fit flush with the RCD bit

Ooh interesting! Maybe that's it!

The lever on the MCB bit moves the internals... It's possible that an over-current moves the internals in a way that will pop out the button via the side lever (as well as tripping the front lever down).

Thinking about it, it must be the other way round.

The RCD bit, when triggered by a fault, moves the little lever on the side of the RCD bit, which then pushes the internals of the MCB bit, which disconnects the line (L). I suspect at this point, the little red button pops out.

So you'll need to push the button back in, before you can reset the MCB.

Now the little diagram on the front makes sense, too!

But it does tell you whether it's the RCD that has tripped, or an over-current.

So I guess it's a single pole device (like most single module "full height" RCBOs), just made in a modular way.

Definitely only SP switching by the diagram.
Put it back together and stick the RCD tester on it. See if the button pops out.
