I have two friends tell me they are having a similar problem, i assume its an electrical problem but have never came across this before. Every now and then there is a loud thumping noise which seems to be coming from the cieling above and their lights flicker. All the electrics seem to be working fine. I was wondering if any of you guys on here had come across this problem before, knew what was causing it and how to rectify it. One of my friends wives wont stay in the house on her own as she thinks its haunted,

Could it be mice cewing the light cable, being throwm up in the air and hitting the ceiling? That would be a fright. Jokes aside check the load and what ever is spured from it and im sure you will find a reasonable explanation for it. If not get Brittons most hauted on the case.

Water hammer in the pipes could be the cause of the banging...my boiler pipes do it occasionally...makes a hell of a racket........hard to see how that could be linked to flashing lights though...........

but a cable with a poor connection could be sitting on one of these water pipes, under the floor
