Basically, I did a two year college course in 2009 which was;

- City & Guilds 2330 Level 2 & 3 Electrical Installation
- 17th Edition
- 2392 Inspection & Testing (I think this is the level 2 version of the 2391)
- PAT Testing

After I finished my course, I had no on-site experience.

I have done some temporary work as an Electrician's Mate but that's just one or two weeks work at a time and all consists of the same thing, containment work.

What should my next steps be?

Because I'd like to have;

1. Car & Driving license. (To get to work.)
2. Experience in the industry and be able to crack on with an instruction without having to ask for help.
3. To actually be fully qualified. (JIB Gold Card?)
4. Tools.

Where would you start if you were me? And what order would you do them in?
I am on jobseekers at the moment, I didn't want to resort to benfits but I had no source of income. I'm trying to get off there ASAP.

Thanks for your help.

u may want to put where u are from cos someone may help you out if u live close to them with some work bud, and if u are signing on get them to pay for a ecs card so you can get site work

1. transport / licence
2. hand tools , drill & PPE.
3. register with agency as mate.
4. Get JIB card now after completing the cscs / ecs assessment , you'll only get trainee grade but will get you on site , and jobcentre should pay for it.
solo working is a few years down the line yet.

Cheers mate, I asked my advisor in the job center if they'd be able to fund my course and he said he doubts it.
