If you're a qualified, trainee, or retired electrician - Which country is it that your work will be / is / was aimed at?
United Kingdom
What type of forum member are you?
Trainee Electrician
For context my situation is a little bit different. Went to college a number of years ago passed lv 2 and 3 Can't remember the exact qualification maybe it was 2330.

I had to take a break from looking for work for reasons. I had limited experience down to no one wanting to take an apprentice on. I was thinking of passing the 18th edition and then searching for them asking around etc.

I know these are my options for looking work please add any i missed out.

1 ) newspapers
2 ) job searches online
3 ) family and friends of family
4 ) charities to help people get into work schemes.
5 ) electrical companies saying i will work for free for experience for a set time

If i can't pass the 18th edition this is where the road ends.

also what other qualifications should i consider getting from looking at jobs

2391 or 2392 Inspection & Testing

Always try and get involved with a company as appose to a training scheme as there Just after your money.courses like 2391 are very expensive and without practical experience almost pointless ,it wont get you an apprenticeship and employers like to mould you to there ways which is good as im assuming you have no on site experience. The problem you may encounter is you will be starting as an adult trainee which means your employer has to pay you more.bottom line you need real onsite experience so try do some leg work ,even just turn up at some company offices and ask for a start ,if they think your keen and there up to there eyes in work you might be in with a chance.just remember you will be a dogs body to start with regardless what qualifications you might have.wish you well
