Hi everyone
just trying everywhere I can at the moment to find employment. (Manchester based but I have a car and happy to travel an hour or so).
I'm retraining as an adult, and just finished Level 2 and Level 3 2365 Electrical Installations at college. Got my 18th Edition, IPAF and ECS card + own tools and PPE.
Ringing agencies every week for work as electrical labourer/mate but finding it hard with no site experience.
Also been just emailing/ringing companies I searched for locally, or see any vans on the road to see if they'll take me on or even just give me some experience for free one day a week.
Trying some bigger companies this week that do apprenticeships to see if they can take me on but can adjust the apprenticeship to account for me having done the Level 2 and 3 part already, figured it's worth asking.
Just basically need some experience. I don't have any family members in the industry and the only friend I know who's working on a site got very lucky and blagged his way on there with zero experience. Just looking for somewhere to take a chance on me for a first job where I can prove myself. Ideally I'd love my first job to be an employer who would employ me throughout my NVQ, but also I understand I just need any experience on a CV to get there.
Any other suggestions where I could find any work would be appreciated. I'm 29, physically fit and work hard. I want to keep working towards becoming a qualified spark but feeling really stuck atm.
Thanks,
Miles
