Where to fit washer

Sorry, it may be trivial question but where and which direction to put washer in this lamp? Please see the attached image. Firstly is the washer in the correct position? Secondly which direction washer's teeth should face up or down?

It’s fine where it is. The teeth work both ways.
Simply put, as you tighten the nut on, the teeth dig into both surfaces and stop it from coming loose easily.
Just needs to be finger tight. No need for a spanner or anything.

Ditto, finger tight then a turn or two, its an anti vibration washer.

These fittings aren’t built too well…. Tighten it with any tool and your likely to break something.

Rare to see a washer on those type of lights , its just usually a dome cap nut thingy which i just put on finger tight then pinch it up with a small spanner maybe 1/2 a turn. They are literally just to hold the lid in place. As above if you go mad with a spanner you will bust the lid

Never meant " go mad with a spanner " DD you must know what I meant, if ot then you aint the DD I'm used to dealing with.
