Who should we offer advice to??

Well I think we should have a pound a post paid annually and funded by the diyers
Or we could be like the street beggars and hold our caps out
They could buy credits which have to be spent and post a pound onto our user names

Good topic,i agree with what you say,i try to give 2 types of reply,to sparks who are just needing a bit of info,we all help out as much as possible,2 people that just join up to ask how to wire a shower off the lights,i just tell them to call a qualified electrician,but without people taking a test to sign up as a member,these diyers will try it on,if none of us give advice then they will not harm themselves.

I have only just got round to looking at this thread, but have read every post before adding mine.

I would first like to explain what this forum means to me:

It has been a huge source of information and has given me more than training has ever provided.
Now if I am asked a question at work, not only can I provide an answer but also give a general concensus on the opinion of hundreds of experienced sparkies because of the topics discussed here on this forum.

I have also found that some topics have 'clicked into place' by reading this forum, whereas previously I may have only known the answers by parrot fashion reciting of the regs.

So I would hate to see this forum close down through fear of liability, and like you guys I will do my what I can to prevent that from happening.

In an earlier reply Widdler raised the question about old topics being searched, and fely that was a good point to make.
And in my opinion it should be impossible to read ANY thread on this forum unless you become a member, and in doing so agree to the terms and conditions.

Would that be enough to avoid liability, as I would hate to see the forum become a wall of silence?
