The neighbours could see me in the kitchen all night with the pressure cooker and all the coiled copper piping!
Black powder is fun. Was asked by a fitter? if I’d machine a billet of steel for him. OK I’m doing nothing else. It took a couple of days, what didn’t help is he wouldn’t give me a drawing. As things progressed it became obvious what it was. 10” diameter 16” long with a bore of 2¾, a 1” recessed chamber at the bottom with a 1/8 taper hole in to the side of the chamber. Two diametrically opposed trunnions at the mid point of the barrel.
Anyone got what it is yet?

You’ve all p*ssed me off now! Not playing! Rotten bu*gers!
The answer is a beer delivery system.
It’s illegal to make or own a cannon or mortar. But you can make and own a beer delivery system. Hence the bore of it. A can of beer could be sent 750’! It set off cold, it wasn’t when it arrived.
We did try for longer distances, the cans weren’t up to it. BANG, the beer went but the sides of the can were jammed in the barrel.
