What title says basically. Sorry if this has been posted before but I couldn't find anything. I'm 23, finished a degree in costume a year ago and looking for a career change for a number of reasons I won't bore you with. I'm unable to drive due to ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) because it means that my reactions are too slow to drive safely and I lack spacial awareness among other things. I'm looking into training as a spark but I'm worried that my lack of drivers license will make it very difficult to find work bc from what I'm seeing, a lot of electrical jobs involve going from place to place rather than staying in one spot, and I'm sure drivers will be preferred over non-drivers for that kind of work for obvious reasons.
Thanks for reading and advice would be great! :)

Just to add to the above, you could also look into becoming an Electrical Design Engineer.

Edit: Oh, welcome to the forum mate.

Loads of places might require an “in house” spark…. Not just factories.

And there’s maintenance teams where there’s a team of people and only one needs to drive.

My youngest daughter is named Heather. 😉

The jump from costume to electrician is quite the change!

It is possible to be an electrician without a driving licence but it will be a challenge.
Personally I specialise in theatres and the majority of my work is in the west end so, whilst I can drive, most of the time I travel by train/tube.

If you've done costume does that imply you have an interest in theatre or the theatre industry?
If you do then have you considered a different branch of technical theatre, LX, sound, video, automation etc?

The west end seems to be short of decent technicians at the moment, if the absolute showers of s*** I've been working with recently are anything to go by, and you can get around easily enough without driving.

Factory maintenance jobs are in abundance right now. Job sites seem to be littered with them. You absolutely can make a living without a license but site work would be challenging with ever changing locations
