Lower back pain - backlife machine

Anyone suffer from it and tried one of THESE or know anyone who has tried one?
Getting sick of the problems with my back

i have a lloyds chemists heated tens machine. my neck was damaged in a rtc a few years ago and has led to my shoulder being a little painful to say the least at times. the heat on the pads is excellent. i don`t know of anyone who has used one mate tbh. i seem to remember searching the net when i had frozen shoulder for a decent forum and there were loads of people who had used various things. its a little expensive if it does not work but well worth it if it does.
let me know if it works if you do get one though. nothing worse than back pain and the huffs and gasps every time you take a step or bend mate.
tell you what does work for my neck though. a memory foam pillow 20 quid and well worth it. i used to get trapped nerves every other week and it lasted a few days. for anyone who has ever had a trapped nerve in the neck it is one of the most painful things you could experience. i was lucky to get a dam good physio who got it to stop trapping as often, if i got chance to nominate someone for a nighthood believe me the guy would get my vote

That's the problem - mind i've been watching a few 2nd hand ones on ebay and they often seem to go for £120+ with no guarantee. So could probs recoup quite a bit if it doesn't work for me.

I find those heat packs quite useful but usually have go to an osteopath - not cheap either, plus prescription charges for pain killers and anti inflammatories(sp) mount up so suspect i might be giving it a go.

SOB Pushrod mate, I was gonna post on this subject last week; asking how many other lads now suffer with a bad back since starting work in our industry.
My bad back started eight years ago, after I was helping to pull in a large four-core SWA cable - can't remember the exact size, but it was a bloody beast. Anyway I was at the top of a tower hoisting it up and feeding it along some cable tray. When I started to experience pain in my lower back. Anyway the next day when I woke up I was literally paralyzed with pain and unable to move for two days, eventually the pain receeded enough so that I was able to go and see the doctor (Literally 100m from my front door), because by this time even I realized that there was something very wrong. So I had to overcome my fear of the doctor and pay a visit. I was diagonosed with a slipped disc, and was subsequently off of work for eight weeks.
Since then I have suffered various bouts of siatica on a regular basis, some of which have just been mild pain and I have carried on working though it but at other times I've had to take time off of work.
I try to keep fit as much as possible, but sometimes I can't even stoop to pick up my baby boy.

Finally, got an appointment sorted out for next week with a physio mate; at crystal palace sports centre. After another bad bout last week. I'll keep you posted.

When my son was in hospital until recently (5 months with fractured pelvis due to cancer) he was using a tens machine to cope with the pain and he'd said it was brialliant! I'd have no hesitation in trying one.

I've been meaning to buy one myself. A friend of mine uses cannabis when he gets bad spells - but I don't think that I'll be going down that particular route.

You evidently ain't seen some of the birds that you get at our home games then mate. Some of them are proper sorts. However I know what you're saying, after all there ain't too many things that I'd happily swap impotence for.

i had seen about 6 different physios before i got sorted. the first lot were pants. said all they could do was give me exercises and for me to take pain killers. I got referred to one at the hospital because of my hands through a different specialist after she saw me sat waiting to see her. she asked what i had done to my neck and said she would see if the physio in the hospital would see me. got fast tracked with an apointment god bless the nhs, I just hope the idiots in government don`t mess too much with it and ruin it for us all

Back pain, YEP!!

If it wasn't for pain killers I would not be moving let alone working. Monthly I have to go to the chiropractor as I have regular problems with pelvis alignment and meniscus entrapment. All this is due to Degenerative Disc Disease with 2 discs, as soon as I get around £18k saved I will get both done privately as the utter crappy NHS wont do anything until I have permanent Sciatica and only if it travels all the way to the foot!!

I NEVER leave home without Biofreeze roll on, and only work for half a day at the moment as a whole day is too much. At the grand old age of 32, I cant even walk the dogs!

I know that feeling Last time i had a really bad case the wife came home and found me on the floor unable to move and had been like that for 4 hours!

THIS sort of thing can be a big help, i have something similar. Have never had a problem when i've been wearing it the only problem is remembering to put it on This present time it was only supposed to be a 10 min job hanging a little sink onto a wall, but then the wife wanted it in a different position etc and it turned into a couple of hours grovelling on the floor and twisting - my own fault really. Should have seen it coming!

Hi Mark, how did you get that diagnosis. My GP just gives me some silly story about lack of lubrication and writes out the pain killer/anti inflam prescription. No way will they pay for a scan. The best i got was an appointment with some young physio who had no confidence and just gave me a few exercises that i already knew from my osteopath.

i know this will raise a few laughs, but a few people i know with bad backs do yoga and reckon its helped them no end. maybe worth looking a little silly if it does some good?

Must admit i have considered this - supposed to be to do with developing inner core strength
mind i would feel a right prune going to a class with a load of women as i am the most unsupple person ever lol
