    4 pole RCD

Hi chaps Having quite a heated discussion with a colleague about a 4 pole RCD. He originally installed a 30mA RCD which now needs to be changed to a 100mA, however the N is on the opposite side. He seems to think that putting L1 into N of the RCD, L2 into L1, L3 into L2 and Neutral into L3...

Hi All I have purchased and installed the Saxby Lighting Ikon square medium IP67 13992 Decking Lights, they look really good. Ideally what id like to do is to have these come on when someone is out in the garden. It seems that there are plenty of 240v PIR outdoor/external sensors, indoor 12v...

    Thanks Button

I've seen a few users making a post saying thank you for helpful posts/answers... Instead you should use the Thanks button as it is more convenient and is more appreciated by the person who has helped you (as it shows up on their profile). This obviously applies to the whole forum but I feel...

Faulty RCCB on old TT system

I have a problem to sort out - it is a TT system with a faulty 80A 10mA RCCB after the meter and before the consumer unit. The board is very old style MCBs with no RCDs present. The customer called me up because until about 6 weeks ago the front garden lights were causing the RCCB to trip. I...

    Anyone interested in Pirate Parties?

Hey, so there have been so many discussions about the Pirate parties in Northern Europe - they mostly say they represent the interests of internet users. E.g. they are for the free use of internet and very popular in Germany at the moment. What do you guys think of them?

    RCD help

Anyone know which makes/brands, if any, have the test button wired between L1 - L2 instead of L1 - N? I'm looking for a four pole RCD to protect a TP circuit without a neutral and still have a functioning test button.

    The "Thanks" button

Just had a thanks (very rare, like hens teeth!) and i got to thinking, unless you go back over your posts you never see who thanked you (unlike the "like" button). Have i just missed where to look or can you not look up who has thanked you?

    The "Like" button

Hi Guys Don't know if this has been talked about before, so apologies if it has. Was wondering if it was possible to have more than just a "like" button as sometimes it just does not seem to do justice to some of the comments. Could we have a "Brilliant" button? Or maybe a "Laughed out loud"...

Hi Guys Did a small job in a house - one additional socket. Then did an RCD test - x1 (240 mSec) and x5 failed miserably. did the test a couple more times. Some improvement but still failed. The RCD is an old Wylex WSES 80/2 so replacement means a new CU. Customer asked me to test it again - it...

    industrial roller shutter door.

A friend of mine has a 3phase roller door. Under normal circumstances you press the up button and it opens and continues to go up untill the limiter switch kicks in. When it comes down you have to press and hold the down button. I guess this is for safety reasons. The up button has stopped...

Hi guys, Been getting a bit of practice with my new Metrel MI3000. Most functions are fine, but I'm a little confused by the Z Loop impedance test. In the book, it shows the Line, Neutral and PE probes being connected to their respective terminals on the board. When I do this and press test...
