Hi everyone,
I'm new here and just signing up on a domestic elec course.
Can someone tell me, when you wire a kitchen, do you have to have a switched grid for all the appliances, or can you plug them in to individual switched sockets on a ring or on a radial ? without a bank of grid switches...
Hi All,
I'm doing a job at the moment where there is an old style MK metalclad grid 12 switch bank which has the cover held with one screw and duct tape(!). It needs three more screws for the faceplate but they're imperial and I can't find any. The dimensions are:
-1/8" diameter
-5/16" long...

I need to change a 2way switch module on an old crabtree grid yoke. If I was to buy a new crabtree 2way switch would it fit the old yoke.
The customer doesn't want to change the whole thing as his whole house...

What earthing system should be used on an off grid install with a solar inverter, wind inverter, battery backup inverter and a 4.5kW floating earth generator?
From what I can gather, these grid switches can be crap. Burnt out, poor quality etc. is a common topic I'm picking up here. So, which companies to avoid etc.?
My fixer-upper house falls under the regs of new build and thus I need to isolate hidden appliances. In the kitchen, I was going to...

I am in the process of designing a system for deployment in Southern Africa and looking for some help/input from fellow solar installers and enthusiasts. Their grid is somewhat hopeless and is often turned off due to lack of supply - load shedding. I am looking at the possibilities I have ahead...
Went to fit one today and noticed that there were no middle screw holes to secure the middle yoke (normally use MK where there are 3 rows of screw holes)? Spoke to other guys who said that they either pack the middle row out with washers, or drill a middle set of screw holes. Spoke to Crabtree...

Hi All
Planning an off-grid solar system and I’m pretty confident about most of it except for one thing - earthing. I believe the inverter I will use, a Victron Phoenix 12/350, has a floating earth - so there will be 230V L-’N’, 115V L-E and 115V ’N’-E. The system will power an existing (old)...
Hi, I've recently moved house and having some work done to the existing utility room. In the process of removing tiles a sfcu (part of the ring main) has been damaged and needs replaced (it's cracked), this switch is connected to an outside security light. I was just going to buy a replacement...

Looking at getting a system that can charge off peak and then discharge when I need the energy to feed my household loads.
Really with the FIT so low, id be using the solar as a trickle charge rather than income. So would be a small system but a large battery bank.
Anyone any ideas of best and...
Good evening one and all
