Im looking over some test sheets and the previous Electrican has got the bs number for an rcbo down as bs 60898. Thats wrong isn't it? The breaker is a schneider c20 30mA rcbo, is the bs number 26860?
As far as i know an RCBO is basically a RCD+MCB. Now in what situations would I use such a device can you please tell me? I want to understand when to use it. Thx.
Hi all
I am doing a commercial install, rewiring a village hall, in this hall we have 2 x rings, 4 x lighting circuits, 1 x immersion heater, then it is 6 x convector heaters and 4 x infra red heaters. All heaters are on their own radial circuit and are to be controlled 2 x timer switches via...

Hi I have been asked to install downlights in a bathroom and have checked the CU which is split but must be 16th as all the sockets and immersion are RCD protected and all the lights separate smokes and the cooker are not . I have one spare way. Easy option is RCBO's for unprotected circuits. It...

1) When about to do an insulation resistance test between neutral and earth on a board full of rcbo's, should I have anything dis-connected and should I just test between the two bars or the rcbo outgoing and earth bar? Been getting funny readings but think it's just something I am doing wrong...
If a board is fitted with all RCBO's would a borrowed neutral show up and cause any problems? I reckon not but a mate of mine reckons it would cause trippng ??
I've installed a diehl platinum 3800's inverter, and it seems too be tripping an rcbo even when dark? anyone know if these inverters have a tendancy to not get on with rcbo's??
Had a clear out and have a few RCBO's lying around, these are all brand new and boxed.

Open to reasonable offers before I put them on ebay. Would prefer selling them as a job lot and would be reluctant to sell them individually.
Hello,
After feeling pleased with myself for installing and testing a new CU ready for my NICEIC inspection, I noticed that one of the RCBO's I bought is a type B where the other circuits are type C, the circuits are:
Heating - 16A type B RCBO
Ring main - 32a type C RCBO
Cooker - 40A type C...
Hi all,
Talking to a lecturer (electrical) recently who is changing all his mcb's to rcbo's and he has sourced them from C.P.C . He brought one in and it is not an exact match for MK gear but does fit the boards well. Made in China of course, (everything seems to be theses days!):rolleyes...
Can anyone tell me the difference between these 2..

Went to change mcbs to rcbo's in a wylex board that's used for total control heating. Then I hit a problem as some off the rcbo's don't fit as the neutral bar is in the way! Instead of the main neutral feed to the bar being cable it was one of those copper pre made ones so can't move it up...
I may be asking some very stupid questions from time to time and this is probably one of them. But anyway my background is in electronics and not electrical work so I have zero knowledge of the correct terminology for many electrical items, nor do I have much knowledge with regards to current...
This might sound like an obvious question but do rccd's have overcurrent protection?
When you buy a 17th edition board that has two double pole RCCD's one at 63A and one at 80A are these RCCD's effective for overcurrent as well as earth fault leakage?
I have been looking at double pole RCBO's...
Hi fellas,
I have three Wylex RCBO's up for grabs.
New and unused, although 1 box is a little tatty.
I have..
1 x C6
2 x C20
These go for around the £20 mark, so.....i reckon......say £10+ a couple quid postage?
Obviously there will be a small discount for bulk buys :D
Hi All,
Quick question,
Have dual RCD board, one circuit on its own is a smoke alarm. I have read all this stuff about smoke alarms being on their own RCBO or with the RCD gang. Can someone please explain why it would be bad practice to put a smoke alarm circuit with others ?
