I’m going to call an electrician out on Monday, but curious if anyone has any ideas about this fault:
I have a new kitchen fitted and two existing ovens connected to existing Cooker circuit. Both ovens have been working fine.
new 7.4kw hob has been just been fitted to replace a small 13a one...
Hi,
Looking for more advice please. My electrician has spurred off a cable under flooring using what seem to be wago type connectors (push in, no screws). They are not enclosed in a box and the flooring is boarded and will be tiled over when refurbished. Is this acceptable by current regs or...
Can I add solar panels to an existing system without jeopardising my feed in tariff?
I have a 3.8kw system but was thinking of adding a few more. Could I have 6kw of solar but limit the inverter to 3.8kw so it will help in the winter when I need it the most.
Or would I need a second meter to...
Went to fix a simple issue for someone . Then realised they where tenants and asked if they had a copy of the EICR ....NOPE . Turns out no Gas safe inspections for 11 years . And the landlord is demanding a stupid rent increase . Now here is the good bit . ~~They are 100% booked to leave the UK...
Hi Guys
I was looking for a bit of advice really. I have been told that someone has been using my qualifications to allow themselves and others to carry out work . I was wondering if there is anyway of finding out if this is true, as i don't want to throw someone under the bus to find out it's...
I know there are many MFT's out there which can test SPD's, but they all cost thousands of pounds, and I personally can't justify that cost which currently isn't mandated.
However it would be nice to know that when I install a SPD that it will function.
Is there a way of testing such a device...
Hi, I'm new here and looking at this True Sine Wave Power Inverter from AliExpress, but I have never seen any inverter without a transformer?
How do they work without one, and how does this one's build look for a cheapish China one? (£125)
As I'm not abele to spend much money as it's to power a...
I've been working my way through some EICR remedials in a theatre and one of them is to sort out a slightly high Zs on a submain.
Thankfully whoever installed it put the banjo on the gland and even put a bolt through it, they just didn't add a flylead, so its going to be relatively easy to fix...
Hi everyone
I asked my assessor about touch voltage and he was not keen on explaining properly and gave me a rough answer which made me think probably he was not sure himself or was hiding it.
basically my understanding is afcourse that how 30mA RCD works to limit touch voltage to 50V is by...

I have some lights flickering in the house. I was told tightening the circuit breaker wires in the electrical boxes might help eliminate the flickering. Is it possible to tighten the wires without having to turn off power to the house.
Thanks
Hi, could I ask for a second opinion please?
My RCD failed routine 6 monthly testing using the test button. I'd like to get it replaced, and spoke to an electrician who said that he couldn't replace it without replacing the whole consumer unit because it didn't meet the the latest regs. It...
I wired in an auxiliary fan to my Jeep radiator. Details:
1. Fan grounded to body.
2. Power wire for fan goes to standard 4 pin relay (with prewired harness)
3. Constant hot 12V for relay goes to 30amp breaker then to battery.
4. Engine-on power12V for relay goes to fusebox in engine...
Could anyone shed some light on what might be going on here, before I cut a trap in the laminate to find out. I have a dead socket on the end of a 2.5mm cable of unknown origin. L-E L-N N-E all 0 volts. Insulation resistance between the ends all 1000M Ohm. No continuity any conductor back...
I have been living in my two bed apartment alone for three years and can never get the settings on my horstmann boiler so that I have enough hot water.
I don't work so I'm at home 24/7 and use more than the average one person's consumption of hot water, I like to take a bath daily and do lots...
Hello,
I have a Clipsal consumer unit with two "ways" unused and blanked off and potentially a third available as the Proteus Geyer B16 MCB is labelled as "spare". This consumer unit only contains the main double pole isolator and MCB's. Please see the below photo.
I am getting an EV charge...
I am quoting for a EVCP install.
The location is too far from the house to get a signal from the router. I realise I could go down the route of installing an outside socket and plugging in an extender but the customer doesn't want to do this. They are quite happy to plug there vehicle in and...
I'd really like to install underfloor, electric radiant heating in my bathroom. The space to cover is very small, probably 25-30 sq ft. once the tub and vanity are factored in. Not having planned for this, we don't have a dedicated breaker for it.
Current set up: we have two junction boxes...
Have been asked to install a car charger(Pulsar Plus)where the customer is not going thro the
grant scheme.Wondered if I need a cat 5 in the supply cable for a basic install.
