I have been out the electrical game for about 8 years having been made redundant from doing something else want get back into it ..my son is a plumber and want me do all his work I obviously need 18 th edition as ive only done first 17th edition.
Best courses available to put me in right direction..Part p do I need it thx ..

Presumably you’d like to sign up with a scheme to be able to sign domestic work off? Probably depends on your previous experience and qualifications. You can get the 18th done via a local college for a couple of hundred quid. Check with the schemes re other quals required. Part P is just the building regs relevant to sparks. C&G does do an exam on it but I’m not sure it’s a requirement for the comp person schemes.

It all depends on what sort of work your son wants you to do. Adding a spur fir a boiler, or wiring up an S plan is just extending an existing circuit. So you don’t need to notify, or be a member of a CPS.

If you expect to install new circuits, or a new consumer unit then that’s a whole different ball game.
