Does new regs require to have a RCD on the 5 pin 16A socket in the workshop ?

used to be that RCD could be omitted if under supervision of skilled or instructed muppets persons. since then IET have realised that most instructed persons are muppets, so regs. changed.

If it is a workshop (not domestic) you can still have a risk-assessment to say not needed (or problematic).

Depends on the expected use really, some 3-phase outlets should have RCD protection as used outdoors and/or with tools liable to chop cables, others it is pointless as low risk and just a cost and trip-risk for high leakage things.

Hard-wiring seems the only option there, but that makes it impossible for a non-spark to swap over stuff in an emergency, etc.
