Saw a consumer unit on a top floor flat today which currently has what looks like a 6mm t+e cable as the supply on a 60a fuse.

Meaning the earth is probably only 2.5mm. Now this has always been here and probably been done by the supplier i guess?

Your thoughts please.

Haven't got my books (and cant be bothered digging them out) but I reckon a 60A fuse is too big to protect the 6mm 'tails' so unless you can convince yourself that there is some downstream protection to prevent the tails being overloaded they aint man enough for the job!

If you're changing the CCU then upgrading them would be a good option.

Yeah pretty sure it's not 10mm. Plus someone done a PIR recently and has put down it being 6mm.

This is a 3 rd floor flat and getting and new 16mm feed up to the door is not going to
be easy.

I don't normally get involved in these threads but I need to get shot of the annoying message.

TBH I think your biggest problem might be not being able to tell the difference between 6 and 10mm T&E.
