I have to admit this is a big concern for me Susanne, I often lie awake at night worrying about it. Sometimes I cry myself to sleep thinking about how I can only fit one box thing in the socket outlet. I am on your side. :)

So, why can't they all be something similar to laptop chargers?

Because they are 'switchers' or SMPs - google that one and see what pops up.

Most TX equivalents are small electronic devices that are portable and provide the correct DC output for particular electronic appliances. They are also cheap to run, don't produce heat and weigh next to nothing.

See Telectrix for an in depth answer......... :)

OK. so i'll try for that in depth answer. this lets you take pics with your iphone down to a depth of 100ft.

American chargers are smaller than the ones here.......why doesn't the original poster just use an extension to free up space as well as getting the extra few plug spaces from that.... the mobile/cellphone charger is designed to step down straight away at the wall outlet without any live mains flex in between.....for safer use as well as cheapness of manufacture.....they are made as cheaply as possible, just a few cheap components ( phone chargers are made for about £2.00 /$3.00)

Hi Susanne, may I ask a question of you,do you have a partner? because I am sure if you gave it a little thought then between you you could find more interesting things to do than worry about the size of power supplies for phones and laptops.best wishes and compliments of the season Phil.
