Evening all..

The customer has a cooker supply from CU - cooker outlet plate all in 6mm.

The new oven is 7.9kW and will be on a 32A MCB.

The new oven is encapsulated in the shed at the moment so I cannot get to the maufacturers instructions.

With diversity applied the load will be 17.31A (no socket on the cooker switch).

I would normally use 6mm twin and earth for this but I have had 50m of 4mm H07 rubber flex for a couple of years now, bought specifically for ovens/hobs (as one set of manufacturers instructions stated this so I went and bought 50m!!) but I never use it as it just feels wrong for a 7.9kW load!!

We would happily use 4mm for a radial on a 32A MCB.

Would you guys be happy to use 4mm from outlet plate to cooker (assuming manufacturers instructions do not stipulate anything)?

Cheers..

Get the 4mm in HHD. It would need some serious derating to be no good. I always use H07 for ovens - even if integrated.

Then Dave throws that in. ^^^^^^^^

Google the model for MI's mate.

I can't see why you would go to the expense of H07 for a cooker connection when T&E is perfectly adequate?

Personal preference, although I find H07 type cable is often stipulated. There is something about T&E left hanging down I just don't like.

I looked at an oven yesterday funnily enough, there was no outlet plate and just a load of twin and Earth hanging out the wall, they are buying a new one so will fit a proper outlet and put flex on instead.

I i prefere flex as when you push the oven in, it tends to sit better and move out the way without kinking or damaging it.
