Hi,

been to a house which is having a bathroom refit, customer wants new down lights, ext fan, lights above the mirror and shaver point. All was ok till we got round to the rcd, old style wylex fuse box so I suggested rcd spur in the loft which they didn't want in case of tripping. They are having cabinets on the wall about 2m from zone 1 is it ok to put the rcd spur in there?
Also is it ok to fit a pull switch isolator for the fan?

Cheers

Is there an airing cupboard next door that you can fit the isolators into??

Remember ALL circuits in a bathroom need RCD protection, including the electric shower (if its having one).

Maybe this is an opportunity to offer a price for a CU change? I wouldn't be happy putting switches in bathroom cupboards, wet hands reaching in for soaps, towels etc.
Will the extractor require a 3 pole isolator?

offered to change cu client thinks I'm trying to make money out of them for work they do not need. I was thinking of fitting a 3 pole fan pull cord switch for the fan is this ok.

In complete contrast to the highly regulated & qualified bathroom fitter who they think is their new best friend

"Oh & didn`t he work hard, Jimmy - he had it all done in 2 days. Hmmm"

Yeh, so would i if i could earn £1500 a day & no-one could get hurt be me cutting corners...

Not that glorified tilers would ever do such a thing
