Lol I grew up using inches but I prefer mm now days, does my head in when someone calls be out inches and I got to convert it. The thing with the metric measure its both sides makes it easier to mark out. Far better than a metric imperial measure.

O yeah I think the reason my old man calls out inches is because that's all he can see on the rule!!! Lol

stanley tylon tapes are absolute garbage. where i used to work there was 10 that turned up one week, and about 2 weeks after that i was trying to cut a peice of wood at 450mm, and i had to try 4 of them before i could find one with numbers on that bit of the tape as the yellow paint was just flaking off everywhere.
these are what i use disposable tape measures they last well, and who cares if you loose one at just over a quid each!

I have a 5m Stanley one, metric both sides. I agree metric both sides is definitely better and I will probably try and get a new one soon as this one is getting on a bit and the stopper is beginning to stiffen up!
Who uses imperial anymore anyway? I'm 38 and all I've ever known is metric!

advent vice versa from tool station was nice, printed on both sides, good for ceiling measurements. dissapeared from the site second day after i brought it in :(
Now Im using a custom made one with my picture and name printed on it.

3 pack Stanley 3meter ones for £10 on the counter in screwfix last time I was in, inside a plastic bag.......I have a few stanley ones, if you leave lying around, especially if new and not scuffed or rusted, people will always help themselves.....or swap a 5 year old smashed up one stuck with tape in its place.....

What's your favourite tape measure and why? I've just had my bahco stainless steel reversible pinched by some scroat, and I can't find anywhere to buy a new one! So I was looking about and all I can see is fatmax this and fatmax that!

Try here www . toolbank . com/p/ BAHMTS825E of course you'll need to delete the spaces

Bought 20 off cpc , 99p each 5M ones, work fina and as said, if I loose one who cares?

As for metric / imp, can see how mm on both sides would be useful but I'm 5 yrs older (43) so am eternally stuck betwixt the two. I prefer to use either / or, whichever suits on the measure for the task in hand!
