I know this has been done to death but since amendment 3 just wondering what prices others are roughly charging for a domestic board change? As a rough guide I'm charging £450 for a hager 10way dual RCD board with notification. Obviously I loose a few I quote due to Kev from the red lion being able to supply and fit a new board for £150.....

If bonding is within a couple of meters of the board/MET I might chuck it in for the above price or sometimes try go for an extra £50. Other bonding obviously depends on the run.

Do those two prices in post 1&2 include certificates etc, sorry already been mentioned in post 1

I'm at £375 for a Hager 5+5, which is probably about right once you account for the "oop North" rate of price adjustment. It suits me as a man in a van though
Yep there are plenty in my town that do it for cheaper, but I've not had one refused this year at that price yet.

A local firm popped up a sponsored (paid for) facebook ad last week offering consumer unit changes from £250. This is a NICEIC approved contractor with a couple of vans, premises, office staff and all the associated overheads. How they can make beyond shelf stacking wages is beyond me.

if they're advertisinf "from" 250, that could be for a 2 way garage board. larger boards will be their killing,

I did think that, but their associated offers of rewires from £1500, extra sockets £30, new LED downlights supplied and wired £25 etc made me think it was for a house board.

I was charging £350 for plastic, but now do £400 for metal.

Just this afternoon, I was talking to a client who had two trailing leads for loads of computer stuff plugged into one socket, and was thinking of additional sockets. So I suggested plugging one lead into the other, or it might need a CU change cos it was rewireable fuseboard. As I was walking out the door, she asked 'how much for a new board, couple of thousand?

I had a Basil Fawlty moment, when he thought he'd won on the gee gee's. Then I said 'no £400 :bigcry:

I'm about the same for a RCBO board

Includes full test of existing circuits, EIC and LABC notification.

All my CU change estimates include the following:

"NB: If problems are detected during the fuseboard change additional work may be required. Such issues and associated
costs will be discussed with you, prior to being implemented"

Never had any complaints about including this caveat!

I'm around £450 for a Hager design 10. That includes tails n gland, any earthing and bonding if reasonably close by. It's usually the water bond that causes extra costs as they are often at the other end of the house a lot of the time. The £450 also sort of covers any small remedials that I can get done the same day such as floating earths or loss of end to end. I usually set aside a decent 9hr day for board changes, and sometimes prefit the gland and tails beforehand.

Are these prices included of VAT? reason i ask is im having to go VAT registered and the prices stated above are similar to mine?

I'm not VAT registered either. For reference, my price is currently the same as it was when I posted in this thread some months back.

£400-£450+vat/ Control Gear fully rcbo'd
inc certs & LABC

Any faults & bonding (unless directly next to it) are charged as an extra.
