I recently qualified and the first job I have been asked to do is put 5 spotlights in a bathroom that is being renovated. Nice straight forward job a nice little earner as they say. On looking at the new bathroom which as been re-plastered had the first fix of plumbing, the floor tiled and the shower tiled noticed that there was no bonding. Question Can I do the alteration to the lighting circuit and ignore the fact that the plumber as not bonded the pipe work. I have one set of minor works forms which ask to conform that there is bonding and one set that does not ask the question?
To answer my own question I say that the the pipe work must be bonded and I want to tell the customer to get the bathroom installation company to do it but would like to be absolutely certain because of the problems/delays that will be caused trying to put bonding in now.

yes it needs bonding, and no you cant ignore it

130-07-01 says 'no alteration etc.......unless the earthing and bonding are also adequate'

Of course, you could always go 17th, put all of the bathroom circuits on an RCD and then you dont need supplementary bonding.!!!!!!:D
