My parents are building a house in Ireland, but the architects drawings make no mention of BS7671 under the electrical spec. I was thinking of going over there to do at least 1st fix for them.

Does anyone know if the 17th holds weight in Ireland, or in fact any other countries at all?? Or will there always be different regulatory exams to pass for each different country?? I have 17th, C+G 2 and 3.

Cheers,
Myles

Its southern Ireland btw :)

I know a scottish contractor who had to rewire a well known optician in Dublin in 2001. Once it was all don the inspector failed the lot as it was in Uk colours not the now harmonized coulours. He did say apart from that it was fine. He ended up redoing it all.:D

I bet he was chuffed!

I bet he sank a lovely pint of Guiness to get over such a clanger ;)

Bazza....waiting to hear back for the complete list of what they want. On the site they don't mention looking at test equipment, but no doubt they will need to make sure it complies with their required specs.

yes he had stocked up a van with all materials in scotland so he could get the discount at wholesalers and try an cut costs

Failed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At the risk of sounding mean and nasty, good enough for him. To come over here taking work is one thing, to come and not buy any materials is worse but to come and not even bone up on the local regs is unforgiveable.
