Might seem obvious to you but are all secuirty light bulbs ( ie cheap ones from band q etc ) the same size?
Been told to get R7s ( whatever that means) and they should fit
 
R7s is the standard 118mm 500watt ( sometimes 300watt) halogen tube size and fitting. the 150watt are smaller, forget the code for them.

I think the R7's are only 80 - 100 watts for the B&Q security lights, i believe you can get an LED version, though it will cost considerably more than a standard bulb.
Just take the old bulb out to find what wattage it is, easiest thing to do.
