Well Tony, let me answer your question with a question - why use an electric drill when you can use a hand drill?

I have not seen in the flesh or used a Jokari tool, nothing better than a fresh Stanley blade.

I use a battery drill as I have not yet found a hand powered SDS

must admit that over the years I've used various different stripping tools with various different cables with degrees of success but in the end I always comeback to the traditional tools.
Some of the tools work very well but the hassle of carrying extra tools around with me generally outweighs the benefits.

one of these kept sharpe

I worked on the Dome on the Faith Zone (it was wired with FP200 Gold
we were supplied with one of these

I found it ok to use.
However a couple of months ago I carried out my own work where all the circuits were wired in Generic FP200 type cable
On my own job I used a Stanley knife, when striping the out insulation on lengths over a meter had to be done in several strips, however it was no great hardship.

There will be a ban on the use of "open bladed " tools that will spread through the industry. That is why there are tools like the Jokari .

8 years ago I was on the MOD Whitehall job
Skanska wanted to stop people using fixed blade knives (Stanley knives)
they started a knife exchange where they would replace any fixed blade knife with a sprung blade knife for anyone one wanting to exchange.

but you can still use Stanley knives on site.

As it turns out my knives are the pen-knife style that takes a Stanley blade

I'm sorry for my this is health and safety gone too far we do a job with sharp implements working on sharp metals and other hazardous materials yes I agree we should minimise the risk but sometimes the simplest all is the best a good knife used properly shouldn't be a danger.

i've had more injuries from sidecutters and grips than i ever will from a stanley knife. most usual one is stripping T/E and the cpc snaps thus smacking my hand against a rough wall or anything sharp that happens to be within 5 miles.
