Guys,

When notifying online with the ELECSA site, what goes in the BS 7671 Certificate number box on the third page.

Is it for example,

Minor works = Form 5

Thanks

For each job I undertake I apply a job number in the following format:

PCE2012-888

PCE = PC Electrics
2012 = the tax year we are in (so 2012 here = 6 Apr 2012 to 5 Apr 2013)
888 = unique job number generated sequentially from when I started

I use this job number on invoices and certificates, thus everything ties in. I also use the job number in the file name for invoices and certs
eg
PCE_Invoice_PCE2012-888
PCE_Cert_PCE2012-888 (adding suffix a, b etc where there is more than one cert for a job)

And if the job is notifiable then the job number (PCE2012-888) goes in the ELECSA box.

Simples.

Customer Number - Certificate Number for that Customer.
eg, second cert for customer No.215 is "215-02".

All job records are filed by customer number, including certs. Certs are entered on a spreadsheet register, so I can locate by date, etc, if required.
