I am starting to get the bug back for camping again after a few years. Now I have the tent etc, but times have moved on and you can now get electric hook ups for tents, all I need is one of these, but surely the supply pole should have RCD protection anyway? Which would mean I should only need one of these.

Now if I need the first one where can I buy one of the combined socket,MCB and RCD boxes from as I don't really want to spend too much money on something I can make up myself for a fraction of the price.

It'll be a poor site that doesn't have rcds on their hook up bollards, like you say, camping has moved on. Make sure its long as some sites have regulations about proximity of tents to each other. Some sites want it to be orange flex too.

Was thinking the maybe take the RCD version myself. Now second question anyone know where I can get hold of the RCBO+ socket combined unit from so I can make my own up, may need 2 or 3 as a couple of friends would like them too.

Yes I have searched online but don't seem to be having much luck :(

you must use rcd protected sockets when camping,a lot of sites will not let you use a normal lead, some don,t even like you having electric with an ordinary tent, indeed I have had lets say one or two "discussions" when requesting electric on some sites, also some have 6a some 10a and some 16a I made my own lead using a 4way wylex socket with rcd protect.you could use a decent 4 way lead and get an inline rcd,or talk nicely to the local brewery tech guy and ask him for a wylex bud.

May go down your route then Phil, just baffled me seeing them great big units for sale.

A lot of campsites now advertise electric hook up for tents so hopefully shouldn't lead to any confrontation if I need it.

What I did was take an old wooden drum, put a cut out in the middle of it for a dual rcd socket then 50m of arctic cable (in orange) to a 16A commando. Combined with a 13A>16A adaptor cable you're good for robbing power from all sorts of places!!

Simples.
