Can I carry out an EICR ?
Details are - I did serve my time as an electrician in the early 80's I have the SJIB part 1 and part 2 electrical installation certificates and a scotec ONC in electrical engineering,I worked full time in the electrical industry till 89 but continued to do ad hoc work as and when required when I changed career path.
I'm now semi retired working as a maintenance man for a company that rents out accomodation on a serviced apartment type basis thing.
Anyway they have approx 200 flats and will need EICR's at some point and I intimated to them that I could possibly carry them out with a bit of brushing up on the regs and testing sequence.I still have my old (very) test equipment but have said that I would require an all singing all dancing multi function instrument.
All the flats are the original wiring and no mods have been done to them.
In one location there are 49 flats all exactly the same I've had a walk round and at the most the only comments I could put down on an eicr would be bathroom fitting not IP rated, underfloor heating not RCD protected and plastic consumer unit (in cupboard, not under stairs) wiring to be teste is 1 circuit lights,2 circuits sockets and cooker circuit.

Back to original question can I carry out an EICR ?

simple answer is that if you are competent... yes. but also be an idea to get PI insurance.
