Discuss Capping Nails and Old Brick Walls in the Industrial Electricians' Talk area at ElectriciansForums.net

same as cirrus but use penny washers too.....can be extremely frustrating...specially if the plasterer comes along and rips it off anyway...grrrrrr

Thanks for your thoughts peops, will try the screw and plug method with penny washers if if come across the same problem. I did try the gaps between the bricks but the mortar was stronger than the bricks!

HHi.
I just stick it in with bonding plaster if the walls to hard to nail into ,just put half a dozen dobs of bonding plaster ,mixed with a little bit of finish plaster in the chase push the cables into the blobs and ,quckly push the capping over them then put some more dobs on top ,leave the plaster rough so as to provide a key for the finish coat ,this is the fastest method there is ,and if you skim the chase with the same mix it provides a perfect finish ,
give it a try ,good luck;)

p.s it goes off fast so only mix a bit at a time:)
