HM Revenue & Customs: Travel - mileage and fuel allowances

Its a bit complicated but I'm sure we can work it out between us...!?

You would be justified in this day and age in adding mileage into you costings and could claim £4000 in the first 10,000 business miles.

Its just a shame that the mileage allowance has not kept pace with inflation. Its been 40p forever, and it drops to 25 after 10k.

IT goes upto 45p per mile in the 2011/2012 tax year. Thats an extra £500 you can claim for. Thats your MOT, Road tax, liability insurance, and a couple real ales down the boozer with the lads and a box of chocolates for the missus! Better than a kick in the chockbox..!
