I know every computer/equipment type will have a slighty different earth leakage stated by the manufacturer, however I was wondering what people use as a "rule of thumb" value when designing ring final circuits in offices intended to be used for computers.

I was thinking 1.5mA per computer inc monitor etc?

I always use the high integrity cpc configuration incase it exceed 10mA (543.7.2.201) however 531.3.2 states that it shouldn't really go over 9mA if on a 30mA RCD. Oh well what's 1 extra mA ?

I was of the opinion right or wrong , that some of these regs were
to split up circuits , so an "Event" was local and not office wide.
( OK so we are not dealing with servers -So costs may not be warranted)

For recent PC/monitors that is reasonable, something in the 1.5-2mA range. If you have some examples to hand you can check with a leakage clamp meter on the L+N, or PAT tester that does protective conductor current, then you should get an accurate figure.

The high-integrity earth is more of an issue of you have extension cables or plug-in UPS with lots of stuff on them as then a single socket can have a slightly worrying amount. While 10mA is not going to kill most folk, it can still lead to accidents due to dropping or pulling hands away against sharp edges, etc.

Even with normal ring earthing you should only ever see one socket's earth go open on a single fault, though with a radial it could be most of them!
