Don't have my BS 7671 to hand, I believe it is in Appendix 15, a recommendation that appliances over 2KW should be on a separate circuit.


Does that mean I can't plug a 3KW load into a 13A socket unless the socket is on it's own circuit.

Couldn't agree more with you Ian, but the point I was trying to make is "permanently connected over 2KW" OK i didn't clarify this so apologies, your point was about plugging in a 3KW appliance, but yes the Regs are open to misinterpretation.
