my go to iron for most jobs except small electronic jobs. had it since 1975. ( not this one, the pic shows a newer version).

just cleared it this morning. it's like a ghost bench now. ner ner.
 
Not perchance hiding the string, araldite & Yellow+ green Insulating tape holding it together ..After an close encounter of the "ground" Kind ?
woof,woof.it had a new flex fitted in 1987, 3 core silicon cable 8 ft.long.
 
Ahhhhh but my thread is in the tool perv's and fetish section.......

No project on the go but my 4 other soldering irons where getting lonely, you know how it is........ ;o)))))

87 eh the year the Christmas lights in Blackpool where meant to be turned on and they didn't as someone had stolen the cable from the switch to the relay............. ;o)))))
wasn't me, honest.
