DC Motor/Generator

Hello guys!

Does anybody know how the construction of a DC generator differs from a DC motor?
Any help wold be great.

DC Generator
1.Shaft driven by external source(steam,ac motor etc) at constant speed
2.Field has variable DC excitation
3.Split Commutator gives output voltage(voltage value depends on excitation voltage)

DC Motor
1.No external driving force(steam,ac motor etc) on shaft
2.Constant voltage supply to Split Commutator
3.Field has variable DC excitation resulting in speed control
4.This causes shaft rotation - result motor
