Do many of you come across new install distribution boards which don't have any RCD testing labels, last test and next test labels that come with every board you buy, or circuit labels? I've come across loads lately and it bugs me like mad.

But how can anyone be that lazy not to place a few labels on a board. I knew the bloke who did the work at one of the houses, I asked him why he didn't put the RCD or Last test next test label on. His response, "I didn't test the house so it's not my problem"

Where do you even start with that one

Ive come a cross that alot lately, it's so annoying. It just shows that some 'tradesmen' have no intention of returning previous jobs, its as if they know there work is a bag of b*lls so they wont get asked back anyway

I have had a few customers recently who do not want stickers all over the front of their shiney new £400 fuseboard.

When they are on full view on the kitchen wall or above the front door I can understand their point!!!

I put this on the certificate as a demand by the customer.

I have bought some smart matching stickers, all in silver, at least they are now all the same size and colour!!!

A classic I came across was a 36 way TP-N red spot board. The genius that installed it up labelled every fuse way by putting the labels on the fuse carriers. If he’d put a reference to the way it was in it wouldn’t have been so bad.

We had some work done and so 24 fuses had been pulled and just chucked in the bottom of the board. I got called to restore power, how long does it take to replace 24 fuses? It took me 4 bloody hours to sort out what was what!

Came across a 3P board in a school in Sunderland once with nothing labeled, school was in so options for de energising circuit by circuit to see what was what were limited we ended up having a very leisurely morning followed by a frantic lunchtime and all in all the job took 3 times longer than it should have
