I have a practice paper for a college exam coming up soon. The question is ...

(Which of the following is an example of a Primary distribution voltage)

A) 400V

B) 275KV

C) 11KV

D) 3.3kv

I think the answer is 11KV, 400v would be secondary and 275kv would be classed as transmission i think!

This leave 3.3kv, do we use this as a primary voltage in the uk?

Thanks

11kv is the amount which usually enters large buildings and considered HV, It then transforms down to 400 volts or 415 as it always was known, so I agree 11kv sounds right to me, However Tony and E54 will be able to confirm.

Thanks for the input people.

I will stick with 11KV and see what my course tutor says when I give him the paper tomorrow.

Have never heard of 3.3KV being used so it stuck out in the question.

DO Tony or Eng54 even post in here! i am sure their input would be very useful to trainees in here:)
