Do not megger test

Fitting some new 12v transformers today and it says "Do not Megger test".
How damn stupid is that, this day and age surely that could put Do not Insulation Resistance Test rather than refer to a brand of equipment?

So, might whack 500v through with my Fluke then!!

You could probably do that and plead ignorance when they went pear shaped, I didn't megger them sir, I fluked them.

Fitted some smokes and heat detectors with exactly the same warning..................might also e-mail them after I "Fluked" them..........

Just sent them an online enquiry as follows:

Dear Sirs,
Today I purchased and fitted a few of your LEB60D (dimmable electronic transfomer).

It has printed on it "DO NOT MEGGER TEST".

This has confused me and after carrying out all tests with my Fluke 1652B they no longer work.

Is this a faulty batch of transformers?

lol funny thread back in the day all you could do was megger tho as that was the only insulation resistance tester you could get, well so my old boy mate says i wouldnt know i'm 30 he's 78 ;-)

It takes time to put together a megger reply so it may be a while before they reply

well they also might have put if you megger test them they will be totally fluked!

IT says MEGGAR not MEGGER ( and they got Metre wrong as well ) Ensure the cables are less than 2 METERS

Thought i'd started to look stupid, had another look and they got it the MeggEr way round printed on the transformer, but yes MeggAr on the paperwork, allround success for them!
