I am presently setting up a metal turning lathe in my garage. (Inherited it from my father)
At present I cannot get the motor to run via the DOL box but, when disconnected from the DOL and plugged into the mains socket the motor runs fine.
Is there anyway I can test the DOL?

Regards.

Have you checked that the start and stop control are correctly connected. Ie the start is open and the stop is closed? Does the contactor energise when start is pressed?

Thanks for your reply.
There is no movement or sound of any type when the start button is pressed.
regards.

Providing it is correctly wired I will suggest a few options.
1. Stop switch contact is open.
2. Faulty contactor coil not operating
3. Start button not making contact with start switch when the button is pressed. There is normally a short plastic piece behind the start button that when pressed makes contact with the start switch.

Is this DOL a new unit?

If you could perhaps take a couple of pictures of the unit with the cover on and if you can safely isolate it a couple with the cover off might be beneficial.

Can you post a photo of the DOL starter? I've upgraded you so you can use the attachment system if you 'Go Advanced' when you make a reply.

I'd be very wary of pressing buttons and relays/contactors, hobby lathes generally have a single phase reversing starter and the motors usually can run in either direction.

Please find attached 5 photos of the DOL.
