We use a ladder staging system which is very good cheaper than easy dec have to use a harness with it as well

Does anyone on the forum use these regularly?

Do you find them to be of much use? We're not sure what roofs they would be suitable on so it's difficult to work out if they'd be a worthwhile purchase.

Furthermore, if we have to erect and dismantle this on every site then it may make some 1 day jobs into a 2 day job - and thus uneconomical.

Yeah, just took a look.

I'd love to be able to find a way of making the most of this system but my main issues are:

- space in van. To bring all this to site would fill most of any van. Which means turning up in two vans.

- time to erect and dismantle. Doesn't look much but a good hour or or so out of the day at least.

- cost of the system

- How much use would we get out of it? It pretty much only suits straight roofs where obstruction (conservatories etc) can be bridged on both sides; which is rarely possible in our experience.

I'd love to hear how others are getting on with it.

We use them and they are very useful on jobs an hour or so away or further afield but it does take longer to erect than the 30 mins stated and does add time i terms of loading the van and tasking it out of the van but can be worthwhile for for away jobs where there isn't a local scaffolding company or if scaffolding costs are high in the area.

it takes roughly an hour to unload and set up the full system, and around the same to pack away.

It can only be used on certain jobs - upto 5.5m gutter height, with space below to set up, no major bridging etc. but on those jobs it gives us an advantage. It's also good for small jobs where only one section is needed which can be much faster to erect. You need a good roof rack to carry the heavy 4m platform, and racking system in the van to allow you to pack it in the van while still leaving room for the rest of the kit you need.

I am pretty sure it was setting up the solar deck in the cold this winter that resulted in me pulling a load of muscles in my back though and putting me out of action for a month, so watch how you're putting them up.

I'm pretty sure it's paid for itself within a year, 2nd hand, I couldn't justify the cost of buying it new I don't think.

Yeah, I can definitely see it gives an advantage when pricing suitable jobs. Perhaps our company isn't big enough, and without adequate storage space, to get the full benefit of the system.

We use the staging system as much as possible easily saved 10k plus on scaff, can not use it in my opinion on slate roofs, brilliant on a reg 3 bed house, if conservatory is no more than 4m wide it's no good, as we have a 5m board and a 3 for shorter applications. Would recommend them !

Obviously it suits some, not others. I can't think of a single job in the last 6 months that it would have fitted! (Guess it's down to our breed of client! ) - You guys must get all the easy jobs :)
