I was on a small container ship as a deckhand doing the potato run back to Portsmouth mary ann beer if i remember right in the pubs then on to the night club via a couple more pubs i cant remember what they were called. I do remember falling arse over --- getting back on the ship when the tide was low as you walked under the dock to get onboard ship lol slippery as hell them dock steps.

Indeed they are bud, I used to work on the docks at Victoria quay for Huelin Renouf shipping on the Artics and their container ship was the one. Had a break from electrics, then worked for Tony Porritt who owned the shellfish export viviers on the quay, found out I was an electrician so had me sort huge seawater pumps for the tanks, dropped over back wall in port and then once he knew I did Scuba diving sent me down to hook up and maintain the pumps too ! All for £7.50 / hr in oily murky harbour ! What a nightmare

Mary Ann special or Best Bitter there was, you're bang on and also Randall's brewery.
Liberation ale now. Steve Skinner opened two awesome breweries in a pub here too then moved to Newquay to surf more, still makes brews like Horny toad ! Skinners ales = lush

Huelin Renoulf lol does the Owenglas ring any bells that was my ships name
Huelin Renoulf was painted all over the sides of our ship it was who we were contracted by for the cargo. The GWC was the best crab boat out there at the time.
I spent some time on the Fin AR Bed for mr mcloud at viviers uk in pompey as well working the english channel.
