eicr, safety is the real issue here, but I’ve seen loads of real poor workmanship,by sparks, big & little things,& you give codes for it.
Just sometimes looking @ the real bad terminations, makes you mad.
Be great just to write condemned,Rewire, what’s your take on it all
It’s getting better cause we all give Certs now @ verification.
Happy easter

The thing is with bad terminations is that whilst doing a PI you need to take the terminations apart to test the relevant circuits, in doing so you then become responsible for those terminations when they are reinstated..
Obviously this doesn’t apply to every termination in a circuit - limitations, etc..
Whilst carrying out a PI I will rectify a lot of issues as I feel that I have a duty of care. On the report I will make a note of such observations in my comments

Should we be re terminating on a visual condition report ??

Yes we all do it

But where do you draw the line on an inspection. .

Very much depends, not much you can do with poor workmanship in socket or switch back box as often there isn't the slack to re-terminate and unless you have a reason to be disconnecting it then its not your place to correct it, just report.

In a CU it's slightly different as you have to disconnect pretty much everything and there is often the slack to make good.

I have once opened up a CU and just C1'd it visually. It was a fairly recent CU change where the cables weren't long enough and had all been extended and stuffed back inside the CU. In trying to unravel one of the ten circuit to test the crimps just fell out. It was 02:00 in the morning and I remember thinking it won't take long to sort before slapping myself and recording it and moving on.
