Providing you get registered and submit the certs to your scheme provider within 30 days of completion of the job as this is the max time limit allowed between completion or works and notification to building control.

It would also be wise to make sure that ELECSA are willing for you to do this as some like to have jobs signed off prior to a visit to show that you are notifying correctly.

i went to my local council buildings department they said to me this is a bit of a grey area for them they said they would come out witch i hav to pay 4 just to check the cable is british standard etc and notches are ok (used original 1's) but then want to come back wen im reg as they are not electrical experts quoteing thats what i went to college for to me it seems i waste of time? and money ?

Legally you must report proposed work to building control before it starts the only exemption is in cases of emergency when you can do it but must notify BC asap.

Thats legally, what happens in the real world is somewhat different a lot of people have not told building control at all and self certified the work on passing assessment.

My two penneth, mine wasnt even bothered, HOWEVER, you need to be very confident that you will pass.

On another note, the job must be notified 30 days after completion.

This is not necessarily when you receive payment and hand over the certs.

You could always go back 2 weeks later to make sure they are happy and everything is ok.

Then you could call that completion and notify within 30 days after that.;)

who wasnt botherd? there shouldnt be a prob passin should there ive done everythink to the book and hav all the necersery paper work and insurance i was told they will be mainly looking for that i hav isolated the unit safely and correctly and that i hav good knoledge of inspecting and testing ?

My assessor wasnt bothered.

Im sure you will pass, and only you will know.

They will check everything if its your first assessment (quals and paperwork etc) and test your knowledge of bs7671, all the other relevant parts of the building regs, your testing methods and may ask you to interpret the test results and what they mean.

All depends on who you get, and how quickly he wants to get home.

lol i get u just hope he aint had a barny wiv his mrs b4 he comes lol i quite confident

At the end of the day, they are not going to fail you on minor things. The arent there to trip you up.

Ask him loads of questions about anything you are unsure of.

If you forget to carry out safe isolation procedures prior to doing anything, then you will fail.

Other than that, give him plenty of tea and biccies and you will be fine.

Most important of all is just relax. It will be over before you know it.:D

1 job makes it nice and simple, but if you sign up for elecsa's periodic scheme they ask you to produce 2 periodic reports do they want to inspect these installations or are they happy to just look over your paperwork.
have got 2391 exam next week so after that the elecsa assessment should'nt be much of a problem
