Hi everyone
I am currently renovating a small old cottage attached to our house. On the outside is a sort of electrical box with a key hole that runs inside to another box with a key hole.
I believe the cottage was rented out in a previous life.
Any ideas what it is? And cab I just remove it?
Thanks in advance
Kev

Looking at the inside box, mentions “line” and BS6301…. Quick google of British standards says 6301 is something to do with telecommunications. But very outdated now.

The outer box looks like it’s connected to a mains power cable, so that needs tested to see if it is powered, or disconnected.

I don't know what the second one it - could be anything. You'll need to investigate where in the electrical system it connects to and remove it.

The first one is for restricting use of the phone line. Basically, it connects into the phone socket behind, the phone plugs into the front, and when in restricted mode if limits what numbers can be dialled on the phone. Chances are it's so old that it only does "pulse dialling" and will allow anything to be tone dialled. Just get rid of it.

As there’s only 1 cable coming to the 2nd one, it’s a switch for something. Do you have any roller-shutter doors, outside lighting, anything that seems not to work?
It really needs a sparks to have a quick look at.

Klöckner Moeller is simply the manufacturer of the plastic box the control is built into.

You really need someone to come out and test it, disconnect it, and remove it.
